The Humane Society of Boulder Valley (HSBV) is a nonprofit organization that has been providing for animals in need since 1902. Each year, HSBV takes in thousands of owner surrenders, strays and transferred animals and finds them loving homes. The shelter also provides critical health services to homeless pets through the HSBV shelter medicine program and much-needed training at its Training and Behavior Center.
Summit Dog Rescue

Run entirely by volunteers, Summit Dog Rescue focuses on saving dogs (and some cats) from high-kill shelters in the area. The rescue is dedicated to finding these animals committed homes and educating the public about the importance of spaying/neutering and proper canine training. When you adopt from Summit Dog, your pooch will be spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested, and vaccinated for rabies and DHLPP (distemper). If you aren’t ready to make a long term commitment, Summit Dog is always looking for foster homes.
Brighter Days Dog Rescue
Brighter Days Dog Rescue (BDDR) is dedicated to helping dogs that need it the most -- with a focus on dogs who are sick, abused, neglected or in danger of euthanaisa -- and matching them with the right families. The rescue group’s hospice dog program gives elderly dogs a golden opportunity to spend the remainder of their lives in the comfort of a hospice foster home.

Located in the Pearl Street Mall in Boulder’s West End neighborhood, Farfel’s is a pet boutique and animal rescue that focuses on saving dogs and cats from high-kill shelters in Colorado and surrounding states. The animals are placed in foster homes where potential adopters can make an appointment to meet with a pet. Once a match is made, adopters can grab everything they need, from collars to premium food, at the store before heading home.

Front Range Freedom Rescue, is dedicated to rescuing and rehoming unwanted cats from New Mexico and Kansas. The rescue rehabilitates these animals and provides them with proper healthcare and socialization in foster homes before making them available for adoption. Keep in mind that the group takes in animals that are undersocialized or have special medical or training needs, which means they are restrictions on the type of home they can be placed.
